CONGRATULATIONS! We are very excited that you have decided to engage with SMART Technologies in your classroom.
At this point you have either had your brand-new SMART Board installed from Pro AV Solutions or you have purchases licenses for teachers to access the SMART Learning Suite software and now you are looking to set it all so the teachers can get to using this powerful education tool.
This blog post will walk you through the various different stages of:
- Setting up your admin portal
- Accessing your licenses
- Provisioning licenses against teachers email addresses so they can access the tools.

Now that it is in the classroom and ready to go, it’s time to access you free SMART Learning Suite software that comes with it!
The SMART Learning Suite is SMART Technologies’ flagship education software package.
With every SMART Board you access you receive a 1-year subscription to the SMART Learning Suite, which gives your teachers access to the three following elements:
- SMART Notebook – a downloadable software much like PowerPoint but with some key differentiating features that are designed specifically for educators and make it SUPER POWERFUL in the classroom!
- Lumio – the cutting-edge online learning platform that allows students to connect to learning, collaborate with peers, work independently on digital handouts, get real-time feedback from peers and teachers, complete formative assessment tasks, access online resources safely and play game-based activities in your classroom!
- SMART Exchange – an online library where teachers from all over the world share classroom resources they have developed with teachers.
Your SMART Admin Portal is the space where administrators control licenses for SMART products and assign teachers to access this powerful educational tool!
It is quite easy to set up and use and the following guide will walk you through each step in the process.
STEP 1:
Go to https://adminportal.smarttech-prod.com/login and click the “SIGN UP FOR FREE” link”
Please note: if you are a first-time user and are signing up for an account, make sure you don’t click the “sign-in” button, but you click the “sign up for a free account” hyperlink underneath the button!
STEP 2:
Fill out the required fields on the form and click the “SIGN-UP” button
Please note: the email address that you enter into this form will be the administrator email address for any licenses that are activated in this portal. It may be worth thinking about which user account is used as the administrator of your school’s SMART Software to allow for long-term sustainability.
STEP 3:
Once you hit the “SIGN UP” button, you will receive an email from SMART that instructs you how to set up your password and sign into the account. Follow these instructions and you are ALL SET TO GO!
There are 2 ways in which you might need to access your licenses:
- You have just purchased a SMART Board and you want to access your 1-year license that comes with your purchase.
- You have purchased licenses for the SMART Learning Suite software only.
The following will walk you through both processes.
Every SMART Board that you buy from Pro AV Solutions comes with a 1-year subscription to SMART Learning Suite which extends the power of this cutting edge digital education tool.
To access and activate these licenses you need to follow the next steps:
STEP 1:
Go to https://adminportal.smarttech-prod.com/login and sign into you SMART Admin Portal.
Please note: The user name that you use to sign in to your Admin Portal is the same email address that you used to sign up to the portal which we covered in the previous section of this blog post.
STEP 2:
Once logged into your portal, click the “SOFTWARE” button on the left of screen and then select the “CLAIM INCLUDED SOFTWARE” menu item at the top of the window.
In the spaces provided list the number of SMART Boards you have recently purchased and a serial number from one of these new SMART Boards then press CONTINUE!
In the next window it will ask you to fill out some information regarding your school name and who you purchased the SMART Boards from. Please remember to list Pro AV Solutions in the “reseller” section so that we can work with SMART directly on your behalf in the future if required.
Please note: the number of displays purchased will allow the system to allocate all the licenses you are entitled to into your portal and a serial number from one of these new SMART Boards will verify with SMART the actual purchase.
Once you have completed this step press “finish” and the licenses will then appear in your Admin dashboard. You are now ready to move onto the next stage, which is provisioning the licenses against teachers email addresses.
While the SMART Learning Software is at its most powerful when paired with a SMART Board, you can use the software on any project or screen, making it the perfect solution for every classroom!
To access and activate your software licenses you need to follow the next steps:
Once you have had your SMART Learning Suite License purchase processed by Pro AV Solutions, you will receive an email from SMART Technologies.

Sign into your SMART Admin Portal using the credentials that you used to sign up to the portal.
Once signed in you will see a message appear that notifies you of your new SMART Learning Suite Licenses.
You will now see the licenses that you have allocated to you in your Admin Portal dashboard!
You are now ready to move onto the next stage, which is provisioning the licenses against teachers email addresses.
Provisioning licenses to teachers email addresses will allow them to:
- Download the SMART Notebook software and then sign into it using their email address to unlock the full features of the program.
- Sign into the Lumio portal to access the powerful cloud-based learning platform without restrictions.
- Log onto the SAMRT Exchange platform to download shared resources or upload lessons of their own to share with teachers all over the world.
The following steps will walk you through the process.
STEP 1:
Go to https://adminportal.smarttech-prod.com/login and sign into you SMART Admin Portal.
Please note: The user name that you use to sign in to your Admin Portal is the same email address that you used to sign up to the portal which we covered in the previous section of this blog post.
Once signed in you will see a line item that has your licenses listed against your schools name
In this line item, you will see a number that identifies how many licenses you have provisioned vs the licenses you have purchased.
Th example below shoes 0/8 – this means that we have 8 licenses available to our school and have not yet provisioned any against staff emails.
STEP 2:
Click on the manage users link (highlighted in red).
STEP 3:
In the new window that appears, choose the method of importing staff email addresses that best suits your needs.

Once you have added your staff email addresses into the system, they will show up in the portal as having been provisioned against a license. The teachers can now sign into either SMART Notebook, Lumio, or SMART Exchange using the email address you provisioned and can gain full access to the learning suite.
You have now completed the provisioning stage of the process and teachers are free to use the software without restriction.
